Marvy Mom Monday: In Her Own Words

A blog I follow,In the Trenches of Mommyhood, posted this sweet "I am from" piece. She linked it to this template and encouraged her followers to try it. I did. And I sent the link to my mom. Being exceptionally good at following directions, she did it.... right away! So, here is her "I am from...." Enjoy!

WHERE I'M FROM

I am from yeast, from Fleishman’s and “Active Dry” not “Fast Rising”. I have been allowed to grow and blossom.

I am from the a farm house, warm, safe, and filled with good smells of somethin’ from the oven.

I am from the Daisy, the Lily of the Valley and the sweet smelling Mayflower.

I am from Grace before meals and music from my Mom and Dad, the Hovers and Bardens in my genes.

I am from the love of family reunions and unconditional love.

I am from these words tucked in my memory: “you can be/do anything!” and “you were born with a veil…you will always have good fortune.”

I am from Methodist upbringing to being a very active Episcopalian. I believe in the golden rule in all aspects of my life. I respect other’s belief systems. There is one God.

I am from the hills of Candor, NY and a home where my grandfather, my father and my younger sister were also hatched. I grew from my mother’s roast beef and tossed salad coursing through my veins.

I am from the Christmas Santa broke his leg coming down the neighbor’s chimney, Halloween celebrations in the cemetery, and the delivery of a baby sister (Rebecca) in 1948. I ordered her from Sears and Roebuck when I was 4 years old. (We got everything from Sears and Roebuck.)

I am from hardworking folks. My mother worked long and hard on the farm, kept an immaculate house and cooked circles around Betty Crocker. Both parents were active in our schools and community. SHHHHH! I carried this secret as a little girl. I thought my father was Jesus. He was such a sweet, gentle, wise soul.

(Isn't she even better when she says it herself? I'll post mine soon... and hopefully some others that I collect! I highly recommend you try this exercise. Good for your soul!)
