Fans of the series "Friends" will appreciate (or at least recognize) the sentence that kept pounding through my head on my 6 mile run on Saturday. Ross said it to Rachel in order to explain why he had slept with the girl from the copy shop after they had had a fight and Rachel had said she wanted a break from each other. While there was no cute copy shop girl in my life last week, I hadn't run since the previous Sunday. Just wasn't feeling up to the scary o'clock wake up, the treacherous shoulders, the single-digit (or less) temperatures. As I blogged before, there is just no motivation here.
I ran Saturday with no expectations. Well, except that I needed to be at church by 9:00 to help set up for a Sunday morning breakfast. The PLAN had been to take an extra loop on the way to add 3 or so miles to the run. I had to bag that because I went to see Peter Pan (this will have to be another post... Oh, the tears!) on Friday night and didn't get home until about 1:30AM. I managed to get out of bed at about 7 and get a little food and tea in me before heading out the door.
It was a perfect run. Didn't go too fast. Didn't go too slow. Stopped twice to drink but didn't really need to. Just felt like it. I got to the church and felt great.
At the start of my run, the song "Stuck Like Glue" came on the iPod. It's, of course, supposed to be about a woman and her long-term love and how, yeah, they argue and stuff but when it comes down to it, they are perfect for each other. I've decided it is "our" song... And when I say "our" I mean mine and Running. There are plenty of others that have the same theme (Stuck in the Middle with You, You're Still the One, Still Crazy After All These Years are just a few that come to mind.)
Okay, gotta get Thing 1 to the bus stop and get ready for Thing 2 and I to face Things 3 - 6. Lord, give me strength and patience and wisdom in dealing with these kiddos. (Ahhh, yet ANOTHER necessary blog post! You'll see....)
Phew! I miss you when you don't post. I check every day...
